Kaffebox Advent Calendar Day 23

Today is day number 23 of the Kaffebox advent calendar today we're brewing Lok Rung Liberica which is a Vietnamese coffee. It's a Liberica/Excelsia mix on the variety. It's an anaerobic and natural on each of the said varieties the producer is 96b. It's an April to May 2025 harvest and it's only 600 meters above sea level and this is roasted by Langora.
This is my first time having a Vietnamese coffee.
Brew recipe
- the recipe they gave was 18/300 grams of water, with a 70 gram bloom
- 150 gram by one minute and 300 grams by two minutes
- at a 700 to 800 micron grind size at 95 degrees celsius
Tasting notes and aroma
The tasting notes on this coffee are definitely odd which makes sense being led to odd origin: Jackfruit,Vanilla,Rosé, Sesame, Sage, and Guava.
As I smell it it definitely smells interesting, I don't know if it's any of those flavors or not but it definitely doesn't smell like a typical anaerobic or anaerobic natural coffee.
As this coffee cools i still can't pinpoint the aroma but it's definitely something brighter up front, and then almost like Ginger towards the back but we'll see how it tastes
The initial sip of this coffee seems spice forward but we'll see how it goes as it cools
Overall impression
So I'm drinking this coffee and honestly i do not like it whatsoever it is kind of nasty. it definitely has a lot of the listed flavor notes, but I don't know it just kind of tastes wretched i'm gonna finish the cup and i'll rate it, but I don't have high hopes for this
This coffee was definitely an experience] it's not good in any way in my opinionsomeone who's more who would like teas would probably like this. It's a very tea-like coffee, extremely tea-like kind of just tastes like a bunch of herbs all dumped into a teabag.
Scores
I guess i'll rate it i mean
aroma was 5/10
Acidity was 4/10
Sweetness 6/10
body was 2/10
Flavor was 2/10
I'm happy i got to experience it, but its honestly pretty nasty.
If you're a tea lover this would probably be really up your alley soI guess get weird varieties from Vietnam if you're heavy into tea.
Overall 10/10 as an experience, 0/10 as a coffee.
Yeah not much else to say about this one.
This is day 5 of #100DaysToOffload
