How to Sign up for Free Trials and not Get Screwed

H

I was under the impression this was common knowledge but apparently not. So here is how I no longer set 50 thousand calendar reminders, and still forget and get charged by my free trials. The trick is virtual credit cards.

You can use any virtual credit card but I will be showing you how I do it using Privacy.com. For full transparency this is using my referral link.
First, create an account at Privacy.com. You will have to go ahead and connect a funding source.
Then create a new card and set it to $1 per month.
You want to set it to $1 so that it will be accepted as a real card a lot of times it gets declined if set to 0.

And if you don’t do that, then the card won’t work at all for the free trial.
After that, you should notice that the next time you get charged for a software that a free
trial that you have forgotten about, it will be declined.
And you can go ahead and decide at that point if you actually want to continue that subscription
or cancel it without getting charged.
