Claire Obscure Expidition 33- Almost all Wheeee

This game was a wild ride, the hype is real!
I really thought I was going to write a long philosophical post, but in the end this is all that really mattered.

This was the first turn based game / JRPG that I enjoyed outside of Pokémon. Second off, this was my first game that I played through completely with a controller as I finally found one that fit my hands.

The Good: A whole lot of Wheeeeeeeee

I found the gameplay lots of fun with a basically perfect level curve. I played on expeditioner, and didn't have to go crazy with online build guides to be able to have fun. The difficulty made it that you die a few times until you learn the move-set, but it doesn't make you crazy like Dark souls style games.
The story is epic and philosophical and dark and the shining star, (erm pit of despair) of this game.
The game gives you helpful pointers of where to go if needed but doesn't slam it into your face.

The Meh:

Optimization for low end is a bit rough but the communality mods mostly take care of it. I ended up using this one.
Not having some sort of mission log, but that doesn't really matter until Act 3
Tutorials have overwhelming amounts of data with easily missable points.

The Bad: Self Inflicted Whoo

The only thing that was actually bad was my fault. The way I played Act 3 , I thought I was under-leveled. So I went around the world trying to grind some levels and couldn't find any interesting side quests. To make matters worse most of the monsters I ran into at that point where way over-leveled. It felt like wandering without any purpose and then getting slammed into oblivion.
I finally got fed up and went back to the story mission and ended up beating it handily but Act 3 really killed the pacing for me. I would highly recommend ignoring reddit guides and just going for the story mission and if you want to play after then go follow the guides.

Conclusion

I think I will revisit the game and in a few months and start anew as the weakest part to me was the open-worldness of act 3.

Overall 9.5 out of 10 and would have been 10/10 if I hadn't decided I was under-leveled and pushed off the last mission of Act 3
Its in there as one of my top three games a tossup with Bioshock Inifite and Wolfenstein the new order.
